1. Who we are

Notebook Capture is built by Chinguetti Labs and published by AfriNetPro LLC, a Barro Services LLC company. In this policy, “we” and “us” refer to the publisher of the app.

2. Everything stays on your device

Notebook Capture is a private research inbox: you collect text, screenshots, photos, scans, web pages, voice notes, drawings and files into notebooks and notes, annotate them, and export what matters. Notebooks, notes, images and drawings are stored only on your device, in the app’s own storage. We do not run a server that receives them, and the app does not require an account.

If you turn on Store library in iCloud Drive in Settings, the library folder is kept in your own iCloud Drive under your Apple Account so your other devices can open it; Apple’s iCloud terms apply and we cannot read it. Your device’s own backup (iCloud Backup or a Mac backup) may also include the app’s data, like any other app.

3. On-device intelligence

Text in screenshots, photos and scans is recognized with Apple’s Vision framework; voice notes are transcribed with Apple Speech (on-device recognition is requested whenever your language supports it, and audio is never saved); summaries, suggested titles, action items and “meaning” search use Apple’s on-device language models or the Natural Language framework. All of this runs on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and you can turn text recognition off in Settings → Capture.

4. Protected notebooks

You can protect a notebook with a password and, optionally, Face ID, Touch ID or Optic ID. The password itself is not stored: the app keeps a salted, one-way verifier in the device Keychain and compares it when you unlock. Biometric checks are performed by the operating system; the app only learns whether they succeeded. There is no password recovery, because no copy exists outside your device.

5. Web clipping and the share sheet

When you clip a web page (by pasting a link in Capture, or by sharing a page to Notebook Capture from Safari or another app), the app fetches that page directly from its website to extract the title, readable text and preview image. That is the only network request the app makes, it happens only when you ask for a clip, and the website sees an ordinary page request from your device. The source link and capture time are kept with the clip.

Content you share from other apps is handed to Notebook Capture through a private App Group container on your device and turned into a note the next time the app opens.

6. Exports, printing, sharing and backups

Exporting a PDF or Markdown folder, printing, sharing a note as text, sharing a notebook package or creating a full backup produces a file that you choose where to send or save. From that point the file is under your control and the privacy terms of the service or app you send it to apply. Backups and notebook packages can be encrypted with a password you choose; without it they cannot be opened, and we cannot recover it.

7. Device permissions

  • Camera — only when you take a photo or scan a document for a note.
  • Photos — only the pictures you pick with the system photo picker are added to notes; the app does not read your library.
  • Microphone and Speech Recognition — only while you record a voice note; the audio is transcribed and discarded.
  • Face ID / Touch ID — only to unlock a protected notebook, if you enabled it.
  • Screen Recording (Mac) — only when you use “Select Screen Area” to capture part of your screen into a note.

You can change any of these at any time in your device’s Settings → Privacy & Security.

8. What we do not do

The app contains no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking or data-collection SDKs. Apart from fetching a web page you asked to clip, it makes no network requests. We do not track you across apps or websites and do not sell or share your information. The app’s privacy manifest declares that no data is collected.

9. Retention and deletion

You control retention: delete any block, note or notebook in the app, or delete the app to remove everything it stored on the device. Removing a protected notebook also removes its Keychain verifier. Files you exported or backed up elsewhere must be deleted where you put them.

10. Children

Notebook Capture is a general-purpose productivity app and is not directed to children under 13.

11. Changes and contact

We will update this policy when the app’s practices change and show the date above. Questions: info@chinguettilabs.com. Please do not send notebook contents or backups by e-mail. See also the Terms of Use and the support page.
